7 Real Life IT Support Calls

The O Team • 22 March 2023

Technology can be baffling but sometimes, just sometimes, you have to see the humour in it all…

The level and types of support we deal with on a daily basis varies enormously, from the simple to the complex, and the usual to the unusual. No day is the same and we love a challenge… but it is fair to say, we have never received any of these seven real life IT support calls that other IT Support Teams have published:

# 7

A caller couldn’t get their computer to turn on. When asked if it was plugged in they started to say “of course it….” Then they hung up

# 6

A caller said their laptop had died so was asked if it was plugged in, to which they replied “It doesn’t need to be, it is wireless.”

# 5

A user asked why their PC wouldn’t turn on. There was a pool of water on the floor and dripping off the PC. “I spilt a glass of water, do you think that could be the problem?”

# 4

“I can’t remember my email password, can you email me a new one.”

# 3

A caller asked us to reset a password as their teenage son had changed it. When asked if the teenager had forgotten the password they replied “no, he just won’t tell us because he is grounded”

# 2

Press any key to continue. “I can’t find the ‘any’ key”

# 1

A user said their password wasn’t working. The password was reset but they called to say it still wasn’t working. When asked what error message was being shown they said “there is no error message, I just get stars when I type in the password box”.
