Windows 11’s New AI Feature Makes Images Accessible to Everyone

The Orbital10 Team • 31 October 2025

Have you ever opened a document or presentation only to realise that key information was trapped in an image or chart you couldn’t interpret? Maybe it’s a detailed graph, or a photo with essential details, but there’s no description to help you understand it.

Microsoft is addressing that problem with a new feature in Windows 11: Describe Image. Using AI built directly into your PC, it generates detailed descriptions of charts, images, or graphics—instantly.

On Copilot+ PCs (the next generation of AI-powered Windows devices), Describe Image is accessible through the Click to Do menu. The first time you use it, your PC sets up the AI models it needs. After that, everything runs locally, meaning no data leaves your computer - your images and information stay private and secure.

Initially available to Windows Insiders on Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PCs, Microsoft has confirmed that AMD and Intel devices will support it soon.

At first glance, this might seem like a small convenience. But imagine a colleague with a visual impairment instantly understanding a complex chart. Or a busy employee quickly skimming a report and instantly grasping the content of images without leaving their workflow.

Accessibility features like this go beyond compliance—they genuinely improve day-to-day productivity, collaboration, and inclusion. When people can access information easily, everyone benefits.

Windows 11 continues to refine the way technology fits around people. Describe Image is just one more step toward a workplace where tools work for you, not the other way around.

If you’re considering Copilot+ PCs for your team, this is yet another reason to be excited. And if you’d like guidance on selecting devices that best fit your business, the Orbital Team is ready to help. Get in touch >
